The Purdue Master Gardener Program is an integral part of the Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service and provides the citizens of Indiana a framework to increase their knowledge on a wide variety of horticultural subjects.

To become a Purdue Master Gardener, you are required to complete the Master Gardener Training Course, pass the final exam with a 70% or better, and complete 40 hours of volunteer service.  

Topics covered in the training course include (but are not limited to):

  • Soil Science

  • Plant Nutrition

  • Lawn Care

  • Plant Science

  • Vegetables

  • Fruit

  • Invasive Species

  • Insect Pest Diagnosis and Control

  • Weed Identification and Control

  • Plant Disease Diagnosis and Control

  • Woody and Herbaceous Ornamentals

  • Animal Damage and Control
