Started in 1997, the Demonstration Garden is a great resource of gardening information throughout the spring, summer and fall. Growing a bounty of beautiful vegetables with different gardening techniques, it has donated an average of over 6,000 pounds of produce to local food banks each of the last five years. Master Gardener volunteers tend the garden and share information with the public on growing vegetables in our area. Stop by and visit the garden, it is located adjacent to the Extension Office on Sagamore Parkway South.
Planting has begun for 2018 with cabbages, broccoli, peppers, tomatoes, carrots, radishes, and more! We again have some cover crops planted to renew some sections of the gardens, and the new watering system is installed.
Here are photos of the new rows of strawberries, our first harvest of tomatoes for the food pantries, crops in our raised beds, and much more.
